Scaling local SEO across multiple medical locations is fundamentally different from single-location optimization. Done right, every location ranks independently. Done wrong, locations cannibalize each other. This article is part of our Local SEO for Doctors pillar.
The Location Page Architecture
Every location needs its own URL — typically /locations/[city] — with:
- Unique on-page content (no copy-paste across locations)
- Embedded Google Map of that specific location
- Location-specific photos, hours, providers, and services
- LocalBusiness/MedicalBusiness schema with the correct NAP
- Embedded reviews specific to that location
One GBP Per Location
Every physical location with a unique street address and staffed hours gets its own Google Business Profile. Share the brand, never share the listing.
Per-Location Review Workflows
Reviews must route to the correct GBP based on which location the patient visited. See our review velocity guide.
Avoiding Cannibalization
Locations within 5 miles will sometimes show only one in the 3-pack for a given query. Differentiate location pages by emphasizing each location's unique services, providers, or specialties.
Reporting at Scale
Per-location rank tracking, per-location review velocity dashboards, and per-location call/form attribution are non-negotiable above 3 locations.
